As many of you know, over the past few weeks, I’ve been working on a rewrite of the HDashboards foundation. What began as a hobby and fun project has grown into something much bigger than I ever imagined. I never foresaw how expansive HDashboards could become—both in scale and in the number of features we now support.

The existing foundation was no longer sufficient to sustain our growing feature set and larger user base. We’ve identified and resolved several issues, such as dashboards remaining open in the background when switching between them. Previously, if you opened the HDashboards app and navigated through five dashboards, they all stayed active to support back swipes. This system has now been completely overhauled.

Additionally, all cards used to operate independently with Homey, which led to an overwhelming number of requests for users with massive dashboards. To address this, we’ve adjusted the app’s initial startup speed. Now, your data is downloaded when the app boots, making most information immediately available. While this might make the app start slightly slower, it significantly speeds up opening and switching between dashboards and greatly reduces the load on your Homey.

There are still a few more improvements I’d like to tackle in future releases. Rewriting such a fundamental part of the app can introduce unexpected bugs and issues, which is why I’m launching this as an open beta first. This way, users can easily join and leave this version of the app as needed.
